
Frederick & Nelson, a department store founded in Seattle, Washington in 1890, was acquired by Marshall Field’s in 1929. Frederick & Nelson retained its name, though their logo was soon rewritten in Field’s iconic script. For Field’s history, Frederick & Nelson brought its Frango chocolate and mint brand to Chicago during the middle of the great depression. Field’s soon began producing these delights in the candy kitchen on the 13th floor. These treats would become a world renowned symbol of Chicago and Marshall Field’s.
